Medium- and high-speed reciprocating internal combustion engines are most commonly equipped with a brazed plate heat exchanger (BPHE) oil coolers, though older technologies such as Shell & Tube are still used in some markets. Open circuit plate-type heat exchangers mounted internally in the engine block are also relatively common in high-speed engines with smaller capacities. The benefits of using an external oil cooler are the simplified service procedure and the effortless modularity of the oil cooling capacity.

We have a range of BPHEs developed specifically for oil cooler applications in engines of up to 15 MW output. They deal with the challenges of restricted external dimensions and fluid pressure drop, as well as high coolant flows.
